Modernisme and working materials
Novelda's most recognisable building stands apart from its centre on La Mola: a modernista sanctuary with twin towers, local stone and coloured ceramic detail. In town, domestic interiors reveal how the same period reshaped the homes of a prosperous commercial class.
The wealth behind that architecture was connected to trade and production. Natural stone, saffron and spice packing remain part of the local economy, while paper-bagged table grapes root Novelda in the agricultural landscape of the Vinalopó.
